To all members of Bukit Batok Chinese Orchestra, or anyone who is in anyway related to BBCO,
If you are willing to continue reading what I've to say, may I request that you first count the number of months that have passed from 2 Jan, the day of our first public performance. 4 months. I hate to believe that an organization can decline and fall in just 4 months, but from what I've seen and heard over these four months, BBCO is close to proving that statement true. I hate to say that disappointment is soon an appropriate word for describing the situation in the orchestra, but yes, it is. I hate to feel that I may be becoming a failed leader, but I think the fact is, I'm now just that close to becoming one. For now, my message for all is short - whatever you think is right for the orchestra, just do it. If you think it's hard to contribute 4 hours of your time weekly, I'll certainly not force anyone. But what's legacy? You'll know when you create it. And I'm telling you here that, it can be done by just using 2.4% of your time every week. If so many others have managed to do it, why can't you and I? Think about it, the choice is yours. - Executive Director, BBCO |

When BBCO first started, no one really believed that our orchestra could make it. We all have been pulling people into the orchestra ( literally ). I've seen joining and leaving in the orchestra. At times, I was tempted to do exactly the same, but I chose not to. The people in my section are getting lesser and lesser, my level of confidence also got lesser and lesser. Without the encouragement of my section members, I can't perform up to my standard. A few times, i was the solo cellist in the orchestra. Without my members, I really can't do well. :( Our first official concert, there were finally more people in my section but it had been too late. My level of confidence has already dropped to the extent that I do not believe that I can do well. So to tell you the truth, I did not perform up to my standard. Seeing the number of people in the orchestra increasing and decreasing, I couldn't help to think. Do they love this orchestra or is it just 三分钟热度? Before I end of this post, I'll ask you a question to let you wonder. Do you have a passion for CO? Will you let BBCO to have the honor have your passion for CO and one day, make you love BBCO? ッ - Jing Yi |

Announcement: No practice on this coming sunday (10/4/11)
On 2 Jan 2011, when the last song 'Matsuri' ended, the applause from audience rang throughout the space of the multi-purpose hall. Many people initially thought that we won't pull it through, but we proved them wrong by holding a successful inaugural concert. At that moment, BBCO's deeply rooted in every member's heart. Or at least i thought so... Ignorance is bliss, knowledge is painful. Escapism isn't really a bad idea afterall... I hope this is not the reality. The attendance and membership started to diminish since then. Last sunday, Mr Koh came to watch us and deciding whether to approve the budget for BBCO's concert. How many members were actually there? For once, i really hate the reality. BBCO is just like a newborn baby.. every single one of us is important. It will not be the same without anyone of you people! For those who cherish bbco, i hope to see your presence @930am in the practice room on 17 april. -if you dont turn up, i will get your meaning. Thanks Veronica |
